It has been a little over 2 years since Apple launched the AppStore.
The store now has over 250,000 applications from around 50,000 developers.
Books and Games are the 2 most popular categories, with about 30% market share combined.

Foursquare passes 3 Million user registrations

Mobile based social network, Foursquare has now passed 3 million user registrations globally.

Whilst Foursquare’s popularity in Australia has not grown significantly over the past couple months, the USA and Europe continue to lead the way with new user signups.

Its estimated that around 16,000 people join the mobile service each day now.

It is unsure yet the impact Facebook places has had on Foursquare, but no doubt this will unfold shortly.

Facebook Security team coming to Australia

A member of Facebook’s security team will visit Australia and meet with child-safety advocates.

Recently 3 Australian men were arrested over a child-porn ring they were running on Facebook.

Facebook removed the accounts that were part of the original offenses, but it is alleged the accused then opened new accounts on the site before being charged by authorities.

Yahoo US and Canada now has its search results powered by Microsoft’s Bing search engine.
Yahoo will also be moving its advertisers across to Microsoft’s adCenter platform but that is still very much a work in progress.
