Apple has released a social network based on music, called Ping which is directly built into their iTunes software.
Steve Jobs says: ‘It’s for social music discovery. You can follow people and be followed on Ping.’
Jobs familiarised the service to Facebook and Twitter. You can see what your friends are listening to, and you can follow artists and and find new tracks/albums.
This is not good news for MySpace, who are trying to rebuild their brand around their roots – Music and Bands.
Update your iTunes and you will see the application does look pretty neat – Will Apple’s entrance into social media be better than Google’s?
