Australians getting more involved in Social Media

Over the past year in Australia users going to social media sites and forums have increase 36.1% over the year.

This means that social media usage is overtaking search engines as the most visited web destination by Australians.

Facebook has benefited more of our adaption to social media.

Facebook accumulated 56.4% of all social networking visits in the period. Large internet portals Yahoo! and MSN also enjoy visits up 15.2%.

Australia leads the way with the highest social media usage in the world. On average an Australian internet user spends just over 8 hours per month on social media sites.

Why are we so involved in social media? Is it because Australia’s are generally a social bunch, or is there more to it?
