I have worked in the online field for nearly seven years in online advertising, e-commerce, social media and web product management. Having lived all over the world, sometimes I feel most at home on the internet, where everyone and everything feels connected and accessible, all through the movement of your fingertips and the click of a mouse. Originally from New York, I hope to offer a fresh perspective to the Australian Social Media landscape.

I'm Daniel Van Boom and am no where near as cool as my name suggests. I'm currently studying Communications at the University of Technology Sydney, majoring in Journalism with a sub-major in Media Studies. As a user of various kinds of social media and a student of media studies and communication, I'm chiefly interested in people's relationships to social media; that is, how they act on social media and how social media makes them act. My interests mainly lie in the arts - especially film and literature, and this is part of my mission, which most people say is a pipe dream, to make a living out of the arts.

My name is Gavin Fernando (can you hear the drums?) and I'm majoring in Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney. I'm fascinated by the impact of social media on people's relationships and am completely tuned into its constant developments and how people respond to and utilize them. In other words, I spend all my free time silently laughing at Internet memes and 'Like'ing unloved statuses to feel like a good samaritan. I'm primarily a writer who one day hopes to have his own column and/or talk show. Just like every other arts student.

My passion and interest in social media developed when I realised I suffer from separation anxiety when deprived of Facebook and Twitter. As a journalism student, I'm curious to see where communications industries are heading in our increasingly online world and excited to report on social media and the latest online trends. I'm currently based in Brisbane, but keen to travel for my work in the future.

She only wishes that Facebook and Twitter had been around in the 90’s as a means to share with the rest of the world her love of arts, languages and society. After working in Education as a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages for 5 years, Jessica has finally decided to pursue her dream of working in the media industry and is on a journey of self-discovery. She’s fallen head over heels with Australia and hopes to one day make it in the real world as a journo/film maker.

Hey, I’m Rob. I’ve spent the better part of my life exploring the mysteries and wonders of the digital realm (Browsing free porn as a teenager counts right?). The biggest challenge I usually face (and the thing I love the most) is that this area is always changing. With this, is the ever changing nature of consumer attitudes. So far, it has been an absolute pleasure riding this train. Oh, also...bit off topic I know.. but... I also make children’s stories in my spare time - you can check out my website http://robt.info/.
