Bing Maps has created a new tool to give you an estimated cost of a taxi fair from one point to another.
The tool, very much still in beta mainly has US locations to choose from. However the tool does have Sydney, Australia and we are able to estimate taxi fares to and from various parts of Sydney.
For example I estimate a fare from Sydney CBD to Vaucluse and it came back with $27. Its more likely to be around $20 but this is close enough of an estimate for my liking.
There is also an option to estimate fares in Melbourne. No other Australian cities are currently available.
This would sure be a handy tool if you are ever going to take a Taxi somewhere but not sure on the cost.
Try out the Bing Maps Taxi Estimation Tool.

Thanks for the useful and informative article. And thanks for the tool. I agree with the tool as the estimated taxi fare makes the passenger feel convenient and comfortable. A good business from the passengers demands a good behavior from the drivers. Focusing on the passengers problem limousine service melbourne provides quality services with chauffeured car and we run our business from the luxury of the back seat. Thanks
