Facebook to review privacy policy

In light of all the Facebook privacy changes over the last 6 months, Facebook now says they are going to simplify their privacy controls.

Many users have complained how Facebook has handled their personal information and sharing with 3rd party advertisers/ applications.

Several well known technology bloggers have voiced their concerns for Facebook urging users to delete their accounts.

Apparently the Google search “delete facebook account” has doubled in the last week.

Facebook has denied losing a significant number of members since the Privacy controversy.

“We have always acknowledged that there is a difficult balance between precision ….. of the controls and simplicity and ease of use,” said Elliot Schrage, Facebook’s vice president of public policy.

“As a result of some of the recent announcements, we may have moved … too far away from simplicity and ease of use,” Schrage said.

“We think we need to take steps to move back in the other direction.”

Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for any Facebook changes in you account/privacy settings. No doubt more communications from Facebook will continue.
