It is now estimated that there are 60,000 people in Sydney using the Geo-location mobile service – Foursquare.
A recent survey of local businesses using Foursquare has generated some interesting responses.
Only 10% of businesses using Foursquare said they would be willing to pay for the service. This is an alarming rate, especially considering Foursquare need to do all they can to reach profitability and cease venture capitalist funding.
Some other statistics from business undertaken in the survey:
- Majority of Foursquare advertisers have only been using the service for 6 months or less
- 60% have a total annual advertising budget of less than $2,500
- 90% are on Facebook
- 90% use Twitter
- 90% have a web site
- 80% have a Google Place Page
- 40% use Yahoo Local
- 20% use Bing Maps
