Facebook in Australia

The global userbase of Facebook now stands at 1.49 billion monthly active users. In Australia we have 14 million monthly active users, or approx 0.93% of the total Facebook population.

Key Points to Note:

  • Most smaller networks see slight drop of users over time
  • Larger networks, for example business networks see fluctuations over the year as networks like LinkedIn have busy and quiet periods
  • Facebook is still reporting decent growth worldwide

  • Hi David some pretty interesting numbers you have crunched for us Aussie Businesses using Social Media as a marketing platform. Do you or have you got any statistics on how Twitters Periscope is going down under? Or do you think it will have any legs, or just be a fad. I follow some US Social Media guru’s who seem to be having great success with Periscope. Look forward to hearing from ya. Cheers Kim 🙂

      Hi Kim,

According to my stats Twitter’s periscope doesn’t even register – so won’t be joining the list anytime soon. Some of these products are more useful in the US where a larger number of Twitter’s users reside.
