LinkedIn Reaches 4 Million Australian Members – But How Many Are Active?
LinkedIn has now reached the milestone of 4 million Australian members. It was only in March 2012 that we reported LinkedIn reached 3 million members - so over the last 12 months LinkedIn has added 1 million Australian’s, or about 83,000 news sign-ups per month – about 2700 a day.
This is a rather impressive milestone for LinkedIn in Australia – however it’s important to note that not all 4 million of these members are active monthly users.
From our monthly statistics, we estimate somewhere between 2 – 2.5 million Australian’s are active every month on LinkedIn. This is fair enough as LinkedIn is the kind of site where you don’t have to be a monthly active user to get benefit from the service.
Last week in a press statement, LinkedIn Australia went on to say that 80% of Australia’s five million professionals are now on LinkedIn. This not exactly accurate as there are many users in ‘non-professional’ industries signed up to the site – so it’s not exactly accurate to say of Australia’s 5 million white collar professionals that 80% use the site.
Anyway this is a great milestone by LinkedIn and I’ve had great success on the site both from people sharing my content and generating business leads.
