It’s time to report our monthly stats report showing the most popular social networks in Australia over January 2014.

1. Facebook – 13,000,000 users (according to Ad tool)
2. YouTube – 12,400,000 UAVs
3. WordPress.com – 6,500,000
4. Tumblr – 4,900,000
5. LinkedIn – 3,300,000
6. Blogspot – 3,000,000
7. Twitter - 2,500,000 Active Australian Users (see calculation)
8. Instagram - 1,600,000 Active Australian Users (see calculation)
9. TripAdvisor – 1,200,000
10. Snapchat - 1,070,000 Active Australian Users (see calculation).
11. Flickr – 810,000
12. Pinterest – 440,000
13. Yelp – 200,000
14. MySpace – 190,000
15. Reddit – 170,000
16. Google Plus – approx 65,000 monthly active Australian users (my estimation *revised*)
17. StumbleUpon – 62,000
18. Foursquare – 35,000
19. Digg – 27,000
20. Delicious – 20,000

(All figures represent the number of Unique Australian Visitors to that website over the monthly period unless otherwise stated).

Key Points to Note:

  • Towards the end of January we saw see more people coming back from work and a pickup in business related social networking, eg LinkedIn.
  • WordPress and Tumblr continue to gain new users due to their diverse platforms and enhanced features over other systems like Blogger/ Blogspot.
