Tourism Australia Using Social Media in New Campaign

Social meda is playing a big part in Tourism Australia’s  latest  new global advertising campaign that launched today.

The new campaign features a social site which encourages Australians to upload any images and stories that they may have from around Australia. Each image is then placed on a Google map of Australia giving a very interesting snapshot of all the wonderful stories and images from the locations situated around the country. At the time of this writing there has been 29,031 entries showing people are happy to contribute to the campaign with the incentive given of going into the draw to win a $25,000 holiday package.

Interestingly enough the site has been built using flash – a technology that doesn’t work with our new iPads.

All this user generated content being contributed to the one place is a huge asset to Tourism Australia which has a budget of $150 million over the next three years to maintain the campaign.

Checkout the site and let us know what you think?
