Digg was founded in December 2004 and is a social news website. The main feature of the site is allowing users to vote/submit news stories (called digging). The most popular diggs are displayed on the front page of the site – which usually correlates to a huge increase in traffic to that particular story, known as the ‘Digg effect’.

Digg has a couple different features:
Digg Dialogg – Digg users can submit questions to a celebrity interview organised by Digg.
Digg API – In April 2007 Digg create and application programing interface in which developers could interact with the site, uploading and downloading information and stories.
Digg Bar – is a toolbar webmasters can place on the top of their webpages to allow users to submit their stories.
