Gowalla is a location-based social networking service.

Registered users can ‘check-in’ to a venue online that they are physically visiting.

Usually the application is accessed through a mobile phone with GPS functionality like the iPhone.

Gowalla can also be accessed via the mobile site they have created.

There are approximately 150,000 active users – March 2010.
