Social Media Statistics Australia – January 2011

With Australia day over lets look at the Social Media Statistics across Australia for January 2011 – which sites are most popular? what is the trend? and can we see any new trends/ players in the Australian market?

I think the most important stat to note is the number of Unique Australian Visitors (UAVs) per month.

1. Facebook – currently has around 9.8 million unique Australian visitors going to the site every month.
2. Youtube – 6.7 UAVs / mo
3. Blogspot – 2.2 UAVs / mo
4. Twitter – 1 million UAVs / mo
5. WordPress – 920,000 UAVs / mo
6. LinkedIn – 760,000 UAVs / mo
7. MySpace – 630,000 UAVs / mo
8. Flickr – 630,000 UAVs / mo
9. Tumblr – 350,000 UAVs / mo
10. Digg – 110,000 UAVs / mo
11. StumbleUpon – 94,000 UAVs / mo
12. Reddit – 57,000 UAVs / mo
13. Delicious – 52,000 UAVs / mo

It’s worth noting Facebook has been fairly steady over the past couple months, MySpace has been dropping consistently, and also Twitter has held a consistent user number around 1 million.
