Twitter and Tumblr have both recently secure additional venture capitalist funding from Silicon Valley VC firms.

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers has put in around $200 million to Twitter giving the company a valuation of around $3.7 Billion.

Spark Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Union Square Ventures have reportedly put in $30 million to Tumblr.

This puts both Micro-blogging sites in a good positions for short and medium term growth while they still determine their best business model to support the business.

Twitter is now experimenting with several advertising such as sponsored tweets but needs to do much more to become self sufficient.
