Amazon working towards Smartphone
According to CitiGroup, Amazon.com is looking to compliment their tablet lineup with their own smartphone devices.
The phone is expected to be a mid-range device and use a Texas Instruments processor and internal chips from Qualcomm according to Mark Mahaney, a CitiGroup analyst.
The total component list is not expected to exceed $100USD.
The move is clear, Amazon want to expand their annual revenues of circa $34 billion USD, and moving into the mobile area is going be a key component to drive this growth.
The Amazon Phone will be manufactured by Hon Hai Precision Industry which produces other hardware devices for Amazon.
Expected release of the Amazon phone is by the fourth quarter of 2012.
