Bill Gates Invests in Clean Car Technology

Over the past half century the human race has been trying to kurb our dependance and reliance on fossil fuels. Bill Gates is helping out by investing in a company that is looking to redesign the internal combustion engine.
Over the past 100 years the internal combustion engine has not changed all that much – the same principals and technologies do apply, just in a more advanced manner.
The company EcoMotors, is a Detroit-based startup that Bill has invested in.
The goals of this design is to build an engine with:
-less mass
-less cost to make
-more fuel-efficient
– generate lower emissions.
Its first prototype product is a turbo-diesel innovation which has half the parts and is half the size of a a regular car engine
Bill Gates has invested $23.5 million into the company. This will go into a project for an opoc engine which Bill says: ‘The opoc engine can be an important step in providing affordable, low-emission transportation for the developing world’
Bill comment further: ‘EcoMotors has developed a promising technology that could help reduce levels of greenhouse gas emissions in a low-cost, globally relevant way’
A company called Khosla Ventures has also invested with Bill Gates. Tony Blair (former England Prime Minister) is an adviser for Khosla Ventures.
These investments by Bill Gates and Khosla Ventures will allow EcoMotors to finish the engineering and testing of the opoc engine. From there if tests are successful we could see a production car developed.
This is another great initiative by Bill Gates in addition to his work at the Gates Foundation.
