Competitions not Allowed on Google+

on November 9, 2011 | Google Plus | Comments (1)

Now that Google+ has launched business pages, and many brands are getting onboard – we look at the best ways to utilise this new social network.

On Facebook many companies like to run competitions or deals on their Fanpages and this has worked well. Part of the Facebook Terms of Service is that any competitions like this must be inside an application – fair enough.

However according to a piece of the Google Plus Terms – http://www.google.com/intl/en/+/policy/pagescontestpolicy.html page owners are not allowed to run competitions on Google + at all.

Google says you must link to an external site where the competition is held.

This is worth knowing as we don’t want to breach any TOS. You can read further TOS about Google Plus here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/+/policy/pagesterm.html

Maybe in the future competitions will be allowed in Google Plus as long as the competition is run inside an application?
