Doing your BAS? Follow the ATO on Twitter
So its time for us to submit our quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS), and this time round I noticed something slightly different.
Usually the ATO includes a help/practice sheet so we have something to draft up instead of mucking up the actual lodgement form. This time around I noticed the ATO has included a Social Media link, specifically to their Twitter account.
Have a look:
You can follow the ATO on Twitter here: http://twitter.com/#!/ato_gov_au
I was maybe expecting to see lots of people on Twitter asking the ATO for help lodging their BAS, or tricky accounting questions 🙂 but nope the messages being sent to the ATO is just idle chit chat, you can what people are saying to the ATO on Twitter here: http://twitter.com/#!/search/%40ato_gov_au
Regardless this is a good move by the ATO to embrace Social Media and keep us all informed what they are doing. They are also tweeting about career opportunities and warning people about scams eg others claiming to be from the ATO.
All in all, another step for the Australian Government towards Gov 2.0, or maybe Gov 3.0.
