Facebook Adds HTTPS Support

on January 28, 2011 | Facebook Security | Comments (1)

Facebook has increased security on the site by allowing users to access the site via a HTTPS (Secured) connection.

You are able to turn on HTTPS so whenever you are on Facebook this is via the secure connection.

This is done by the following:

– goto https://www.facebook.com/editaccount.php
– click ‘account security’

There will then be a tickbox to access Facebook via a HTTPS connection.

If it is not showing on your profile yet, Facebook may not have rolled the change out to your profile yet, but it will be coming.

Do note that some Facebook features and 3rd party applications may not work on the secure connection, which are being worked on to fix.

Also note when accessing a website via a HTTPS connection – web pages will take longer to load as they are encrypted.
