Facebook Mobile Ads

on December 14, 2011 | Facebook | Comments (0)

There is speculation that Facebook may be looking to introduce some form of ads into the mobile version of their site early next year.

Currently Google and Apple lead the way in mobile display advertising, with smaller stakes to Millennial Media, Yahoo and Microsoft.

With Facebook’s huge reach and high mobile usage (around 350 million users), this is an obvious step for the site and they look to be treading carefully into the mobile ad space.

Facebook is also expected to IPO in early 2012 to raise around $10 billion USD, valuing the company at over $100 billion USD.

Revenue for 2011 has been $4.27 billion USD, and with a mobile advertising platform this could rise up to $6-7 billion USD.

Around 90% of Facebook’s revenue comes from advertising.
