Facebook to release new security features

Amid all the controversy of Facebook’s privacy policy lately – the company realises more and more scammers and hackers are trying to use the site for identity theft.

With a globally user count of over 400 million is not surprising.

As a result the Facebook security team have come up with a raft of new security features to be released over the next few weeks.

Users can ask to be alerted when their account is accessed from a computer they haven’t used before. Also when Facebook notices unusual activity it may require the user to login again and provide more personal detail to verify if the correct person is accessing that account.

Users will be able to check where their most previous log ins have come from which is similar to how Google’s Gmail product operates.

Facebook says safety and security are their top priorities.
