Google: The numbers


Sometimes is seems like Google is taking over the web. Everywhere you turn there is some kind of Google service.
It’s interesting to have a look at Google’s history and how the company has grown.
Have a think about the following Google statistics:
– In 1996, Google has 25 million pages in their search index. Now they have over 40 billion pages in the index.
– Google image search has around 1.5 billion images indexed.
– Of the global population, 1.8 Billion people use the internet.
– Last financial year Google’s operating income with US$8.3 Billion dollars.
– The average Google employee creates around $400,000 profit for the company.. ie revenue/ employees.
– YouTube only generates revenue from 14% of its video views. YouTube is still expected to be running a US$1 million loss each day.
– Google houses many of their severs in cargo storage containers.
