Google TV gearing up with Intel and Sony

on May 19, 2010 | Google | Comments (1)

There has been much talk about Google TV for some time now, but what does it exactly mean?

Google has partnered with Intel and Sony to provide an internet based Television service to consumers.

Intel will provide the software via a consumer electronics (CE) operating system based on MeeGo Linux. Sony will provide the hardware – Google to provide everything in between!

As Google is holding their Developer conference Google I/O on Wednesday and Thursday – application developers will eventually be able to build products for Google TV which will incorporate regular based TV advertising.

Google TV does not intend to replace the traditional TV network but more be a supplement.

THe original TV broadcasters have spent billions of dollars investing in the infrastructure to bring their channels to the public – so they are not going to give that up at all.
