Microsoft to continue supporting flash in IE9
Microsoft has confirmed that they will still be supporting Flash in IE9, as a plugin feature like they have always done.
Dean Hachamovitch, General Manager of Internet Explorer said “the future of the web is HTML5” and many thought this see Microsoft drop support for Flash.
However this is not the case – Hachamovitch had more to say in a recent blog post about why Microsoft chose this stance.
“Several comments asked about Microsoft’s support for plug-ins (like Flash and Silverlight). Of course, IE9 will continue to support Flash and other plug-ins. Plug-ins are important for delivering innovation and functionality ahead of standards,” he explained.
When Internet Explorer 9 is released it will only run on the Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems – possibly pushing Windows XP users to upgrade their OS, stay on an old IE version or even change browsers all together!
