Pinterest Site Update Now Includes Support For GIF Images

Over the last couple of years we have seen a ‘comeback’ with people posting GIF type images.
GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format, created in 1987 – most commonly known for animation and movement in images.
Pinterest has made a website update today whereby they now support GIF file uploads to their site. All images have a little play button for users who want to start viewing that particular image.
Here are some of the newest GIFs already posted to Pinterest:

(Note: Pinterest website embed codes do not support GIF images yet).
Will this lead to more Adult related content on the site? Yes.
This now puts Pinterest in more direct competition with Tumblr, who for a long time have support GIF images types – which many say has been one of Tumblr’s unique propositions and helped drive their growth.
