Product Recalls via Social Media

In early 2010 I wrote about the ACCC suggesting that companies should start using social media networks when issuing product recalls to consumers.

This was over 2 years ago!

We are now starting to see companies running Facebook ads for example when issuing a product recall. I am no expert but I believe there are some sort of rules companies must follow when issuing product recalls, some of this around the marketing done to get out the recall message.

Why not use social media and boost your fan numbers at the same time?

Thanks to Jack McCarthy for letting me know on Twitter.

I believe we are going to see even more ads like this into the future. If there is one way for a brand to tell me about a product recall – it would be on Facebook.
