Social Media Tools


There are many Social Media tools out there that help you monitor multiple social media sites from a single interface.
We have been looking at various free tools and wanted to post a list of what we have found useful.
1. Social Mention

Social Mention is a search engine that index multiple social media websites and has the ability to provide you daily alerts of your chosen keywords/ phrase. Great for keeping track of your brand/business on a number of social networks.
2. Twitter Counter

Twitter Counter is a site that looks into your own Twitter account statistics, such as: followers, who you are following, the rate people are following you, average number of tweets per day, and the site also provides you with a number of website buttons.
3. Klout

Klout looks at the reach of your Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts, how likely your network is to interact with your content and your overall influence on the social media sites.
The tool also looks at what you are posting onto Social Networks and how many people are looking at your content (links, pictures, text etc).
This is a useful product as you can compare your stats against your competitors.
4. Boardreader

Boardreader is a search engine for Forums. This is extremely useful for targeting niche online communities and forum posting is a common method these days to increase your brand exposure for free.
Using this tool you should be able to find forum posts about any particular topic you can think of.
5. IceRocket

IceRocket is a blog search engine and is useful if you want to keep track of your brand and see if other blogs are talking about you.
The site has also developed tools to search Twitter and Facebook.
6. Hootsuite

Hootsuite is an all-in-one social media monitoring and management tool. It allows you to update multiple social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WordPress & Ping.FM.
The system is designed for multiple languages, lets you schedule updates to your networks and provides advanced reporting on user interaction.
7. TweetDeck

TweetDeck is software application you can install on your computer (or mobile devices) that acts as a social browser.
You are able to update Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Google Buzz and Foursquare through the application.
TweetDeck was recently purchased by Twitter.
8. Kurrently

Kurrently is a real time search engine indexing both Twitter and Facebook.
9. Friend or Follow

Friend or Follow is a Twitter tool that lets you find out who is follow you, but you are not following back – and also who you are following, but they are not following you back.
Basically the tool will help you build mutual relationships on Twitter.
10. RockMelt Web Browser

RockMelt is a web browser specifically designed for Social Media interaction, search, and staying updated with your latest feeds and websites.
If you are using Social Media for business, it is worth your while finding suitable tools and that can supplement you day to day Social Media activities.
