Twitter Celebrates 20 Billion Tweets with Intermittent Downtime

on August 2, 2010 | Twitter | Comments (0)

ha ha. very funny.

Twitter has recently hit 20 Billion Tweets according to Twitter tracking tool, Gigatweet.

As of today Gigatweet was also registering close to 700 Tweets per second.

Only 2 months ago Twitter was celebrating 15 Billion tweets so it looks like the figure of 20 billion is accurate.

Not entirely surprising as we got closer and past the 20 Billionth tweet there was some intermittent downtime with Twitter as lately their servers have been, inconsistent.

Twitter is on average generating 2.5 million Tweets per hour now, or 70 million per day.

It will be interesting to see how much further Twitter can create and generate new growth.
