Twitter Introduces New Geo-Targeted Advertising Features to Setup Ads for Specific Cities

on September 19, 2012 | Twitter | Comments (0)

Twitter has announced via a blog post that they have updated their advertising features so you now have the ability to reach city specific audiences with Twitter’s advertising products, like promoted tweets.

Previously advertisers were only able to target users on a country basis, which did make Twitter advertising somewhat limiting for those not seeking country wide exposure.

Another Twitter product, Promoted Accounts will also benefit this change. For example, if you are looking for more followers in Sydney you can now use the Twitter advertising system to only target users in Sydney.

I suspect we will see even more use of these ad products now that further geo-targeting options are available, although many have speculated that Twitter has a serious limitation on the types of ads they can ultimately offer without disrupting user experience.

As a marketer, will you find this update useful?
