Twitter Removes 140 Character Limit For Direct Messages

Today we see Twitter has removed the 140 character limit in Direct Messages. Their apps for iOS and Android have also been updated to remove the character limit in DMs.

We have seen many new ‘messaging apps’ become more and more popular thesedays, such as:

  • WhatsApp
  • Facebook Messenger
  • Wickr
  • Telegram
  • BlackBerry Messenger (for iOS and Android)
  • Line

Twitter wants to make sure their platform is ripe for this longer form of communication. Previously users would have to send multiple messages, sometimes between 5 and 10 just to get their message across.
