Twitter to start censoring Tweets

on January 27, 2012 | Twitter | Comments (0)

As Twitter moves into more and more countries around the world, Twitter will begin censoring content and tweets to certain country users.

For example in Australia, United States, UK etc we have the freedom to say anything we pretty much like, however in certain countries the freedom of speech is somewhat restricted and if an overseas Government requests information to be taken off the site – Twitter can now remove content for users of that particular country, but leave it up for the rest of the world to see.

Previously if there was content on the site that violated a certain countries laws, Twitter had to remove it for all global users. Now Twitter can act restrict content on a per country basis.

Twitter has said they do try to keep content up if they can.
