Twitter working on more language translations

on June 4, 2010 | Twitter | Comments (0)

Twitter has announced that they are working on several translations of the site to give non-English users a better experience using the site.

Twitter is working on the following language translations at present – Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Turkish.

At the moment Twitter is in invite-only mode with users helping the translation but may ask more Twitterers in the future for help.

Selected translator accounts will have special translation tools and translators receive a special badge on their Twitter page which displays their status as an official Twitter Translator. For a general user level 10 is the highest but of course Twitter employees gig the system a little! 🙂

Twitter also plans to assist their developer community with developing their non-English applications.
