Bill Gates Letter to Steve Jobs

on January 31, 2012 | Apple Bill Gates | Comments (1)

There are several report floating around about a letter Bill Gates wrote to Steve Jobs as he was dying.

Apparently the letter meant so much to Steve Jobs he kept it by his bed in his last days alive.

Mr Gates hasn’t released many details about the letter but has said:
“I told Steve about how he should feel great about what he had done and the company he had built. I wrote about his kids, whom I had got to know.”

Gates goes on to say that there was issues between him and Steve like it has been reported in the past. They both matured as businessmen in recent years and were close friends, yet also competitors.

After Steve Jobs died, his wife Laurene Powell called Bill Gates and said “Look, this biography really doesn’t paint a picture of the mutual respect you had.”

If you have read the Steve Jobs biography it does not really talk about the respect Steve had for Bill. There is much more to it than the biography suggests as it mainly concentrates on Steve’s (and Bill’s) earlier life when the competition between there was a little more personal.

Related: A little while ago I compiled all the videos from the AllThingsDigital conference in 2007. This was one of the last times when Steve Jobs and Bill Gates had a public discussion with eachother. It’s clear they were good friends.
