Google+ Competition Fail

on November 14, 2011 | Google Plus | Comments (1)

We recently reported that competitions were not allowed on the Google+ social network. We thought this was a little strange as both Facebook and Twitter have a lot of competition activity and surely Google want to compete in attracting users this way.

So Android (Google owned mobile operating system software) is holding a competition on Google Plus, but they can’t actually hold the competition there as its against the website terms and conditions. As a result they have linked to Twitter asking users to mention @googlenexus on Twitter when sending in their competition entries.

So they are promoting a competition on Google Plus, with the actual competitions being run on Twitter.

Why?
Because of the Google Plus T&Cs?
Because Twitter has more users?

As a result of such confusion users on Google Plus do seem a little annoyed. You can read all their comments here: https://plus.google.com/104629412415657030658/posts

What a fail..
