MySpace Rebrand, Why?

on December 22, 2010 | MySpace | Comments (0)

Ok so for sometime now MySpace has been going with a new ‘black’ sharp look on their website and in their branding.

Today i logged into the App store and MySpace have released an upgraded version of their iOS application.

What confused me was why would MySpace move away from their long standing and popular blue MySpace logo to something simple and unimaginative.

Here is the difference between new and old. Scrolling through your apps it wouldn’t be hard to be confused with ‘MY’. What is ‘MY’ again?

I guess I’d call myself an old-school MySpace users and ‘back in the day’ this was the one and only meaningful social network.

Now well and truly overtaken by Facebook, MySpace is looking for new was to distinguish itself, however I think their original logo is what users will remember.

Hopefully MySpace doesn’t change too much in an effort to be more noticed.
