Yahoo Adds Google+1 Button to News

on April 20, 2012 | Google +1 Yahoo | Comments (0)

We saw recently Google rolled out a new +1 button for their social network, Google+.

Many webmasters around the world have added this button as it can now impact search results for Google web search users, especially people who run Google searches logged in to their Google account.

In an interesting move, Yahoo Australia and many different country sites around the world have added the Google +1 button to news articles and content pieces.

There is no doubt the social sharing from Facebook and Twitter has continued to supplement Yahoo properties, will the Google +1 button deliver similar results to Yahoo.

The interesting thing I noticed about their implementation of the +1 button is that it doesn’t show the count – (ie the amount of +1’s that page received), whereas with Facebook they show the actual number of likes/ recommendations.

It’s a simple option – either show the count or not. Maybe they are thinking they don’t want to ‘promote’ the amount of usage this button is getting, even if only minimal amongst the general Australian internet population.
