Yahoo Implements Google’s Rel = Author

on August 17, 2012 | Yahoo | Comments (0)

As I was running a few searches on Google yesterday, I noticed this interesting change for Yahoo News.

It seems they have implemented Google’s Rel = Author markup on some of their news properties in the United States.

Here is a pic of the search results:

This is an interesting move by Yahoo, but not all that strange. We reported previously that Yahoo added the Google +1 button to their articles, and in Australia Yahoo also uses Google Adsense to monetise some of their ad inventory.

Will we see them do this for their Australian websites? What about other leading publishers like the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review etc – will they implement Google’s Rel = Author someday?

It may be a good idea to differential their results in Google, however after checking – very few leading publications have implement the rel = author markup – it is far more common on blogs and online magazines.
