Social Media Statistics Australia – August 2013
Another month has flown by and that means today we post our Social Media stats showing how many Australians are using our favourite social networks on a monthly basis.
You can view last months report here if you want to see the figures for July.
August 2013 Stats:
(Please note all stats represent the number of Unique Australian Visitors [UAVs] to the site over August – except for Facebook which is the number of active monthly users as reported by Facebook themselves).
1. Facebook – 12,000,000 monthly Australian users (see here further details)
2. YouTube – 11,500,000 UAVs
3. WordPress.com – 3,700,000
4. LinkedIn – 3,600,000
5. Tumblr – 3,500,000
6. Blogspot – 3,200,000
7. Twitter - 2,167,849 Active Australian Users (see calculation from last month)
8. Instagram - 1,469,000 Active Australian Users (see calculation from last month)
9. Flickr – 840,000
10. TripAdvisor – 820,000
11. Pinterest – 550,000
12. MySpace – 250,000
13. Yelp – 240,000
14. Reddit – 175,000
15. Google Plus – approx 100,000 (my estimation *revised*)
16. StumbleUpon – 75,000
17. Foursquare – 48,000
18. Digg – 33,000
19. Delicious – 25,000
Key Points to Note:
- The tracking tools we use have shown some considerable variations over the last month. Leading sites like WordPress, Tumblr, Blogspot and LinkedIn are attracting new users on a daily basis, so continued growth is expected, as is ‘user churn’.
- Facebook for the third time have released specific stats for Australia, if only Twitter would do the same (Twitter is yet to release Australian specific stats and have told me they do not track users by region).
